Jud Kilgore of Hampton, Virginia

I met Jud Kilgore in 1993 or 1994 via the Tidewater Bears. Jud was heavily into physical fitness and living healthy. Big fan of alternative music like Dada, Bob Mould, etc. We went to a concert at the Boat House once and I had the fun of being near a mosh pit for the first time. Jud was into politics too, tended to be a liberal but when it came to defense matters, he was like me: more hawkish.

At the Shipyard: I was in 053: Material Management, Jud was in RadCon. RadCon is the department in charge of nuclear reactor plant construction and deals with a lot of the safety issues during the construction process of the aircraft carriers and submarines that are routinely built at Newport News Shipbuilding. We never intereacted on the job much because I was rarely ever involved in ship construction.

Jud had three dogs: Sadie, Bullet, and Bishop. Sadie was a part lab/pit bull mix. Sweet dog, since she got the lab brain! Bullet was kinda of cool- but he got away from me once when I was dog sitting for Jud when he was visiting his folks. Bullet can run his ass off! Bishop was a pain in the ass: he was always fucking with the other dogs and start these dog fights. Walking along Chespeake Avenue was a lot of fun though with three dogs. Great exercise too!

Jud on Bicycle

Jud was a major mechanic and was the type that could install brakes on his Ford 150 truck with hardly any help. I think he was installing shocks once, a major feat I thought. I was lucky to do my own oil change. Jud in fact offered to change my oil a few times, being the generous type he was. I had a Toyota 4X4 red truck at the time, and it was somewhat difficult to get under to reach the frigging oil pan nut.

I haven't really talked to Jud in a long time. My mom got sick and life kinda got shitty fast. I guess he is doing ok, at least I hope so. He was a really nice guy.
